If you can't get to a car wash, let service come to YOU...
Richard Gill was running a small automobile detailing operation in Sarasota when “one of my older regular customers became immobile enough that he couldn’t drive to the shop anymore.”
That was the beginning of his transition from a fixed location to Auto Salon Mobile Detail Center, the business he’s operated for the past 14 years.
Now, Gill said, he caters to those in Southwest Florida who can’t make it to a traditional car wash or just don’t have the time. “Consider a stay-at-home mother,” he said. “Their kids are at home, and they don’t have the time to take their kids out and wait in a car wash. It’s a convenience service for people who don’t have the time or don’t want to sit and wait.”
He also has commercial customers who hire him because they don’t want to use up employees’ time going to the car wash. It helps that he’s the only person a customer has to deal with as opposed to perhaps a dozen at a full-service car wash.
Repeat business is the key to success for a mobile detailer, Gill said. “Our prices are always the same, whether it is a Toyota or a Rolls Royce. We post our prices on our website and never very from them. And our standards are high...repeat business is very important to us, we work hard to make sure our customers are happy and use our service over and over again.”
